Why Should You Get a Toaster?

The toaster, has been doing its intended job for the past century, toasting bread to the desired crunchy texture. It's easy to use and convenient, and lets face it who doesn't like a good crunchy toast with a cup of milk in the morning. Moreover, instead of buying pre-toasted bread which can crumble, you can buy soft bread and toast it to the desired crunchiness. The toaster has a good market in the States and Europe and its time to increase its market here in Lebanon.

The Advantages of The Toaster

The major use of the toaster is to toast bread, the advantage of using a toaster for this, is that you can set the degree of toasting, either making the bread crunch all the way, or just a crunchy exterior with a soft interior. Not to mention the colour of the toast, anywhere between golden sandy exterior to  charcoal black.

Development of The Toaster

The toaster went through many steps of development before it reached its current stage. The first toasters only heated from one side, and the bread had to be turned manually to heat the other side. It wasn't until 1913 that Lloyd Groff Coleman and his wife Hazel Berger Coleman invented the first toaster that turned the toast to be toasted from both sides. The popup toaster, which automatically ejects the toast when they are done didn't appear until 1919 by Charles Strite, and it wasn't until 1925 when both options were made in the same toaster by Waters Genter Company.

History

Before the development of the electrical toaster, bread used to be toasted by being placed in a metal frame and placed over the fire. The first electrical toaster was invented in 1893 by Alan MacMasters in Scotland. One of the issues, the electrical toaster faced was to find a suitable heating material, that could turn red hot with out melting or causing a fire hazard. This problem was solved in 1905 when Albert Marsh designed a nickel-chromium alloy capable of withstanding the harsh heating conditions.
